A Confession from The MTGU’s Political Whatever I Am

I am not kidding when I say that I will be glad when the Presidential elections are over. It is stressing me out. It makes me dislike my friends. It makes me think that otherwise intelligent human beings don’t have the common sense God gave a hammock. It makes me say hurtful things like the last sentence. It makes me want to delete my Facebook. It makes me angry and more likely to jump on other things that aggravate me (looking at you religion). It makes me sad for the country as a whole. Please hurry up and get here election. So we can get back to uniformly doing our damnedest to end up like Greece. And please if Romney pulls the miracle of the century and wins, please don’t let me become a parrot repeating “I told you so, I told you so, I told you so” over the next four years. I ask all this, here at the altar of our political Gods, in the name of the messiah Ronald Reagan, forever and ever…Amen.

Nay Nay, speaking of kids. My 10 year old asked me the other day who I was voting for (the POTUS debate was on the TV). I told her I was voting for Gary Johnson, the libertarian candidate. She said “No, out of these two” and pointed at the TV. That is how overwhelming the message is. Our children are taught you have to vote for a Rep or Dem. It is a Pavlov’s dog experiment and I don’t think it can be overcome. Grown adults tell me all the time that I am wasting my vote. I think they can’t see the forest for the trees.

Last week I was treated to passionate plea about Obama in my workplace after the plea-speaker’s sister came into the office and said something about Romney. Let me say this – I love this person and she is like family to me. I did get to ask some questions. I finally got to give my considered opinion which is they all lie to get there and then they find out they can’t do anything they wanted to do anyway. I wish I felt some passion about it or care but I just cannot muster it up – I only know I cannot wait for it to be over regardless of who wins. I think you could put this group of folks in power and not much is going to change. I am disenchanted.

I am tired of my kid asking me if I am a republican or democrat. Why do I have to pick chocolate or vanilla when my favorite is Ben and Jerry’s caramel sutra?

My go to phrase for my campaign would be “I have no idea what I would do, but he’s lying”.

Can you imagine the hoopla when they discover Krebs is actually an alien? Will make Kenya seem like Kansas.

I think everyone who steadfastly supports the greatness of their candidate / party should be required to go to therapy. The track record for both parties is abysmal and all the candidates lie so much that you’re better off assuming what they just said was a lie versus the truth. Makes me want to vomit. I would be ok with folks saying, damn these choices suck, I’m picking this guy because he sucks a little less.

Couldn’t agree more! For some reason this election seems worse than the last few with my “intolerance” of others opinions. Maybe it’s due to the advancement of social media and social media protesting for things that are dumb. (sorry, my intolerance started kicking in)
