Quote of the Week:
“Apparently I can’t win so I will do what I can to take down the leaders.” –Mac
Well, TB has been reminded without ceasing via Facebook and Twitter since the great Presidential Debate in Denver last night began of just how big of a dumbass I am. You see, if I vote for one guy I’m dumb. Vote for another I’m an idiot. Vote for even a third or fourth and I’m crazy. It’s enough to make a guy really angry. Because it’s one thing if I know I am a dumbass, but it is an entirely ‘nuther matter for me to hear from someone else who more often than not–check that–almost always–is just as big an ignoramus as I.
This year’s Thursday Pickin’ is taking a similar toll on the self awareness of my own dumbassedry, though at least it isn’t of the sort that makes me angry at all of my friends, family and Facebook timeline. For we reverted to a 10-15-3 POTW collective performance and were a respectable 30-26 on bonus picks. TB was one of those POTW sister kissers and I went 3-2 on my bonus picks. My record for the year is now 2-2-1 and 10-15. The MTGU falls to 64-71-4 on it’s POTW’s and moves to 158-190 on bonus selections. SDog was the first victim of bad timing on choosing his POTW as the official Friday line in the USA Today for the South Carolina game was 21, giving him a loss instead of a win with the 20.5 he saw it at the time of pickin’. Tough luck there, but rules is rules. Even if they are made by a dumbass like TB.
All this anger and dumbassedness I point out for a reason. In this season of general discontent and hard feelings, there is one thing that can bring us all together to remind one another that idiotic though we may be when it comes to politics, here in the MTGU there is still brotherhood/sisterhood, kindness and selfless generosity to be found. The 2d annual MTGU Service Project, Be Excellent to a Stranger kicks off tomorrow. Be sure to check it out if you are new to the site. Everyone else, be thinking about who you might nominate to receive a little Christmas surprise from us strangers.
To the business at hand, congrats to all-in Rebel pickers on their moral and against the spread victories over Alabama. RSR, Irv and Lusty Larry won the week. Shout out to Krebs for picking two Dogs of the Week, SDog, Pitalo and TKH also nailed their dog. (heh heh). Hard luck award to Fish for losing his POTW but going 5-0 on bonus picks and bustin’ the curve.
Standings below, remember, only bonus picks in parentheses, the top ten won their POTW, the next three tied, and the bottom fifteen were losers. Music points as selected by Sweet and RSR were Flyin’ J for song and JLou/Harmony for lists. Krebs takes over the points lead from BR and Fig.
