Thursday Pickin’ Season V Week 8

Another good week in the MTGU for pickin’ and a glorious week in the so-called mainstream universe for college football. The ancient Mayan pickin’ gods are smilin’ in these purported latter days of being or maybe it’s just the improbability machine at work. Now, lest you think TB is tempting the Mojo, I will now bow down to the wisdom of the ages and confess that the power is fickle and clever and probably the inventor of the Mayan calendar through use of the (an?) improbability machine. I know flush times are never meant to last and maroon-ageddon is always in my sights, not unlike Arthur Dent’s view of the end of time in the infamous restaurant at the end of the universe. Hmm, considering how many maroon-ageddon’s I’ve seen, the maitre’d would be a better example from that tale since he saw it all end several times a day…..say, none of you have any idea what I’m talking about do you? Sorry for the digression, as usual, it makes sense to me.

TB won my POTW last week to move to 3-3-1 on the year. I went 2-3 in bonus picks falling to 16-19. The MTGU continued it’s mid-season surge with a 15-10-1 week, now 97-89. On bonus picks we went 38-29, now 241-243 on the year. Most importantly, the Bulldogs, MY Bullies, defeated Tennessee and picked up a most improbable cover to continue undefeated for the season. But with MTSU on the slate this week, the ‘dogs would do well to heed the immortal cautionary words of Admiral Ackbar–”It’s a Trap!”

JLou won the week by going all in and winning her POTW and getting song of the week musical points as chosen by Sweet. Nelson got the other musical points for his List. Krebs fell from the ranks of the undefeated as he was obviously feeling the pressure of greatness. He dabbled with choosing State or Ole Miss, both winners last week, before crawfishin’ over to a loser. Some of y’all probably won your dog o’ the week, but I forgot to check for that. Fish busted the curve by tying his POTW and going 4-1 in bonus picks.
